Core Schema
The foundational master data layer for your CMDB. Core Schema gives you shared definitions for people, teams, departments, locations, vendors, applications, and cost centers -- the building blocks that every other schema references. Deploy it first, extend later.
What You Get
Seven object types that cover the organisational data every CMDB needs. Each one deploys with pre-configured attributes and relationships.
Person
Employees, contractors, and external contacts who own or manage assets. Tracks name, email, job title, employment type, manager, department, and location.
Team
Functional groups that own assets, receive tickets, and take operational responsibility. Includes team lead, department, Slack channel, and on-call rotation link.
Department
Official organisational structure as defined by HR. Supports hierarchical nesting, department head assignment, and cost center linkage.
Location
Physical places where people work and assets reside. Covers address, city, country, region, timezone, and supports parent-child nesting (building, floor).
Vendor
External organisations for procurement, support, and partnerships. Tracks relationship owner, account manager, support contacts, risk level, and payment terms.
Application
Software applications from SaaS platforms to custom-built systems. Includes vendor link, business/technical owners, owning team, dependencies, criticality, and data classification.
Cost Center
Financial units for budget tracking, cost allocation, and chargeback. Links to a budget owner and connects to departments for financial reporting.
How They Connect
14 pre-configured relationships link these object types together. Here is how they relate.
Documentation
